StormRad is an experimental CESTOF tool for live thunderstorm monitoring, radar-based cell detection, lightning analysis, storm tracking and route/intercept planning.

Data credits

• Radar composites: CHMI open data, DWD open data, SHMU open data and Hungarian radar data where available.
• Lightning: live lightning feed used by the CESTOF StormRad backend.
• Satellite overlay: EUMETSAT WMS.
• Maps, geocoding, traffic routing and navigation: Mapbox.
• Storm cells, lightning storms, mesocyclone indicators and forecast paths are CESTOF-derived products generated from the available live datasets.

Note

StormRad is still in development and should be used as a situational-awareness/testing tool, not as an official warning source. Always follow official meteorological warnings and emergency instructions.
